We believe in the power of youth to change lives. Most Students from in rural communities across Uganda are not exposed to the depth and breadth of career and livelihood prospects. Wilmat Development Foundation works towards filling this gap through its various programs tailored towards enlightening the students to the breadth of professional prospects in various academic disciplines as we aim at achieving SDG 4 & 5 (Quality Education & Gender Equality) by 2030. Moreover, with our strong belief in gender equality, we aim to reach out to young girls for enlightening on the dangers of gender-based violence as well as raising a voice to fight for their stand and position in society.
This program aims at equipping students in Uganda to take charge of their own lives at University and after University so that they can live responsibly, handle a myriad of pressures and learn to give back to society. It further prepares them to be self-reliant and creative even after college, and not to sit back idly if they haven’t got employed by someone.★ Through the primary education program, WDF works towards empowering the young children in primary schools as the future of tomorrow through life-skills talks, health talks, career guidance and counselling sessions integrated into community seminars, youth camps, leadership training, printed literature at school among others.
★ This program also targets parents and guardians since they are the ones who support them financially and morally, so as to have a major impact on the learners.
★ WDF makes the parents aware of the career options available to their children and encourages them to support the children in whatever career path the child chooses.
★ This program aims at enhancing the capacity of the youth to enable them stay in school and complete their studies successfully.
★ The WDF School outreach will also help adolescents develop life management skills, believe in themselves and set a positive goal for responsible living.
★ This will further reduce the high rates of school dropout due to teenage pregnancies and failure to complete studies due to misbehavior.
★ This program focuses on engaging the youth into discussions of ways of healthy lifestyle as a young person and how to carry out healthy relationships as a young person.
